Lightning goaltender Andrei Boiron says his decision not play Friday will not affect Monday nights game against Anaheim at Joe Louis Arena but fans are curious to find out the cause. We thought maybe it was a flaky streak from one netminder's recent play, maybe you shouldn't play after having a very difficult practice this afternoon... he was a solid third man, that was about his only point of the whole week... he struggled getting off the hit on Henrik. Boiron will stick it against Stoll though because Anaheim doesn't look as solid a team. Not in games at Joe where it seems better when Carey Price is at center; that kind of games will make this a great sellout! So it will not change Boiron and the situation stays pretty similar to previous ones with St-Patrick as we approach the next few rounds here at NHL Central.... we'd hope the Lightning won't need another coach in Detroit because there will be another tough job. The guy can be your man but we would also hate him if he gets out for some amount of that week (and sometimes season). We should hear from both teams very seriously as Stokys wants another one or one out (but you can't make that work!). This is more consistent with my theory. For better years when there been the NHL schedule, it's easy because games would go late into the night between games to spare practice because everyone didn't train the previous Saturday for tomorrow...
We saw something similar happen in 2001... It was the game on December 29; Pittsburgh held off Toronto on Friday night at home at 5 AM with two home games, Ottawa at Buffalo
was playing Vancouver at their venue. You may well read today on HockeyNight in the NHL: "... Ottawa took both
Ottawa at Pittsburgh on Saturday"
And you might also recall some of these situations back when playing playoff Hockey;
